A Little Bit About Us
Our Mission
Our Mission is to feed, clothe, and house all who may need it by means of mutual aid and generosity.
Our different programs target different populations — from unhoused folks to those battling the carceral legal system to students and working class people.
We have no choice but to accomplish this mission. We seek for a time that our mission is complete. People's needs are being met and the system that keeps them needing is reformed or abolished.
Our Core Principles
— The system we live in not only fails to meet our needs, but actively disadvantages us to do so.
— Housing, Food, Clothing, Healthcare, and all basic needs should be rights, not privileges that can be taken away.
— Giving away "free stuff" will only ease the symptoms of the oppressive system. The system must change or be replaced.
— If a person need not worry about their basic needs, they can better meet their more complex needs.
Our History
The People's Kitchen was an idea that started in a political encampment. Let's just say, TPK was born out of radical action, not a desire for charity.
We will fight the oppressive system that ensures the poor get poorer and the rich get richer.
Sometimes that means one meal prepared, one policy changed, or one cry heard at a time.
